Energy consumption per capita is approximately 1 toe/year, which is the fourth lowest level among the Commonwealth of Independent States CIS and three times lower than the average. The country’s energy intensity is twice the EU average. The country’s final energy consumption in the last few years has been around 30 TWh. 

 

In 2020 Moldova's residential and tertiary sector continued to be the main consumer, with 58% of consumption, followed by transport (23%) and industry (17%).
