Support schemes – Energy Country Profile

Support schemes

Slovenia amended its support scheme for renewable electricity and cogeneration in 2014 and replaced the existing feed-in tariff system with tenders for new projects (auctions by the ECO Fund). The new support scheme also introduced a market premium for operators above 500 kW. The projects below this threshold will continue to receive a feed-in tariff. Highefficiency cogeneration installations will also be eligible for 10-year grants.

Renewable plants under 5 MW (below 1 MW for cogeneration plants) connected to the grid before September 2014 benefit from the previous support scheme and can choose to sell the electricity generated, either to the grid operator with a guaranteed payment (“guaranteed purchase”) over 15 years, or on the market with a premium on top of the market price ("operating support").
