Energy Administration

The Energy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade is in charge of the country's energy policy. At the end of 2007, the Czech Energy Agency, which was created in September 1995, was closed; its activities concerning the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy were transferred to the Ministry of Industry in 2008. One of the offices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, namely the State Energy Inspection, is responsible for overseeing compliance with energy-related legislation.

The Energy Regulatory Office (ERU) has been in charge of regulating the energy sector since January 2001.
