The energy consumption of Latvia in 2017 can be divided into the following energy percentages: oil (36%), biomass (26%), electricity (14%), heat (15%), gas (8%) and coal & lignite (1 %). The high biomass consumption of 26% is due to the large domestic wood resources and the high share of fuelwood in residential consumption and in CHP plants.
