Calimanesti Hydropower Plant receives € 5 Million Investment

€ 5 Million to modernize Romanian hydropower plant

The Romanian hydropower producer Hidroelectrica recently announced that it would be investing almost 24 million lei (equivalent to 5 million Euros) in the modernization of its plant in Calimanesti, central Romania. The project is expected to be completed within one year and should contribute to an increase in the automation of the plant, while also increasing the safety and reliability of operations. The Calimanesti plant has an installed capactiy of 39.6 MW, resulting in an average annual energy output of 106 GWh. Hydropower is one of the main contributors to the total electricity generation in Romania.
