The first set of draft plans prepared for the period of 2021 – 2030, outline how to achieve the targets and had to be submitted to the European Commission by 31 December 2018. They set out national objectives for each of the five dimensions of the Energy Union and corresponding policies and measures to meet those objectives. Member States ensure that the integrated national energy and climate plans are consistent with, and contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
