Serbia builds its first district heating system in Bogatić

The construction of Serbia`s first geothermal heating system begun on the 17th of July, 2018. The project is to be completed in 120 days, by the beginning of the heating season. It was developed in cooperation with the experts of the University of Belgrade School of Mining and Geology. The project worth EUR 1 million out of which 75% will be financed through loans and the rest from stakeholders. The geothermal heating system will contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of air pollution in addition is expected to result in annual savings of between EUR 100,000 and EUR 150,000. This project will not just facilitate the deployment of renewable energy and will be the first facility, which will be used to heat public facilities, but also will serve as a best practice example. Besides, it enables to deliver this technology to businesses and individuals in the future. In addition to this, it will contribute to the exploration of Serbia’s agricultural potential.
