Serbia: Two large-scale wind farms will be supported by GGF in Serbia

The Green for Growth Fund (GGF) decided to fund two of the first large-scale wind farms in Serbia with a total of EUR 31.85 million. The first wind farm will be built in Čibuk (158 MW) and the second in Alibunar (42 MW).

Through these investments GGF demonstrates the commitment of Serbia`s to achieve 27% of its energy consumption from renewable energy sources by 2020. The wind farm in Čibuk, which entails 57 wind turbines from General Electric, is being built by Vetroelektrane Balkana, a joint venture between Masdar, DEG German Investment and Development Corporation, and the Taaleri Group. The Alibunar wind farm, in northeastern Serbia is being developed by Elicio NV. Elicio has announced its plan to install 21 turbines from the German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion by until the end of September 2018.The construction of the two wind parks is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 50,000 metric tons per year.
