Energy Wood III program to drive demand for clean fuel in Montenegro

The program focuses on replacing old heating systems, stoves and boilers with modern efficient technologies.

The Energy Wood III program which is operated by the Ministry of Economy, deals with the usage of cleaner fuels for heating in Montenegro. The Ministry provided funds of about 85.000 € for this program and reported that over 130 loans have been approved since the implementation in mid-October 2017.

The program focuses on replacing old heating systems, stoves and boilers with modern efficient technologies (e.g. pellet and briquettes), which have lower operational costs and less negative impact on the environment. In order to reach this, the Energy Wood III program enables citizens to apply for loans up to 3.500 € (at a 0 % interest rate) with a repayment period of up to 5 years.

The goal of the program is to ultimately increase market penetration of energy efficient heating technologies and a reduction of total greenhouse gas emissions in Montenegro.
