Albania to promote investments into solar energy
The importance of solar energy in Albania has been strongly underlined by Mr. Damian Gjiknuri, the Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry. Mr. Gjiknuri said that this energy source is extremely important for Albania because of its geographic position and exposure to sunlight.
The workshop was organized by the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and held at the end of October 2017.
A significant output of this workshop was, that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the EBRD signed a Memorandum of understanding on stimulating investments in solar energy through auctions in May 2017. This Memorandum defines a framework to develop projects and investments across the country to reach an energy production goal of 100 MW backed by solar power plants.
