Baltic Sea Declaration on Offshore Wind signed

Decleration signed to promote wind power in the Baltics

A declaration to support the development of wind power generating capacity in the Baltic Sea was signed by EUFORES (European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources). EUFORES is a network of members of the European Parliament and the legislators of individual EU Member States.

The declaration was named “The Baltic Sea Declaration on Offshore Wind” and signed by officials from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany and Poland. The expansion of offshore wind power generating capacity across the Baltic region was the primary target of such an agreement.

According to WindEurope, the European Wind Energy Association, the Baltic Sea region could become the second largest for offshore wind, with a capacity reaching up to 9 GW by 2030 from presently 1.5 GW.
