New Electricity Market Law in Ukraine

Ukraine introduced a new Electricity Market Law in the national legislation

Under the Energy Community Treaty, Ukraine introduced a new Electricity Market Law in the national legislation on 11 June 2017. It aims at adjusting the Ukrainian national legislation with the Energy Community acquis. This includes a re-organisation of the Ukrainian electricity transmission system operator Ukrenergo and the development of new market rules.

The new law will also affect the development of renewable energy in Ukraine due to the establishing of gradual balancing responsibilities for large renewable energy producers. Feed-in-tariffs as support mechanism are still applicable.
