Montenegrin energy regulatory authority is asking for observer status in the working groups of the Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators, ACER

Request was analyzed by the Energy Community Secretariat

Based on a cooperation agreement between the Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators, ACER, and the Energy Community Secretariat the Secretariat elaborated a report on Montenegro’s compliance with Energy Community law with respect to electricity, gas, environment, competition and State-aid. The report also assessed the legal independence and performance of the country’s energy regulatory authority, RAE. As a result the report expects that Montenegro will establish competitive structures in its electricity sector within the next six to twelve months. A requirement for that is the legal independence and performance of RAE.
The Energy Community Secretariat had conducted similar analyses for Serbia and Moldova. The assessment of Montenegro’s energy regulatory agency is the first to confirm compliance in all analyzed areas.
