Hungary is following the „green path“ in reducing energy consumption
According to the EU statistics office Eurostat Hungary’s energy consumption dropped by 12% during the period 2005 to 2015 corresponding to a 1% drop per year. The yearly energy consumption of Hungary had dropped from 27,6 mtoe in 2005 to 24,2 mtoe by 2015.
In the same period, Hungary’s share of fossil fuels in its energy mix dropped from 81% to 70%, corresponding to a 13,5% decrease. The share of imports in its fossil fuel consumption dropped from 76% to 74% indicating a decrease of 2,6% in total.
