Denmark to support Ukraine in developing energy efficiency and renewable energy

The State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) is in discussion with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In its renewable energy action plan Ukraine posted a share of 11% of green energy in total energy consumption by 2020. Denmark will provide mainly technical assistance in order to reach this goal.
Ukraine intends to support the necessary investment  of EUR 16 billion for the implementation of this challenging task by new legislation including green tariffs and by creating regional energy clusters. One main goal of the Ukrainian Government is to replace and to reduce gas consumption.
Denmark has now started its fourth round of a Neighbourhood Programme with the aim to boost economic development with focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy whereby the main problem remains the task to make the projects attractive for investors. The programme is scheduled for the period 2017 to 2021 and is expected to attract a sum of 800 million of Danish kroner.
The Danish experts suggested that investors get in contact with local authorities in order to profit from the experiences in past projects and to apply those for the implementation of new projects. Both parties agreed that a continuous dialogue is necessary for the realization of planned projects.
