Poland to organize a renewables electricity auction in 2017
As part of its support strategy for renewables Poland intends to organize an auction in 2017 worth US Dollar 2,6 to 4,6 billion with the aim to buy electricity from renewables.
According to European law the share of electricity coming from renewables should be increased by 2020 as compared to the present situation where the major part is based on coal-fired power plants.
Poland’s government faces a two-fold challenge as coalminers do not agree to make losses and at the same time renewables are expected to be supported.
