Romanian government decided on low quota for green certificates

The government decided to keep the prescribed quota for electric energy produced from renewables for the third year running at a low level, that is 12.5 % as compared to 17 %, as intended by the law 220/2008.

In 2016 the authorized quota will cover about 50 % of the green certificates in the market. According to the ANRE provision 183 dated 31. December 2015 the compulsary quota for providing green certificates was set at 0,317 CV / MWh for 2016. As a consequence in 2016, 12 116 662 green certificates will be required. According to ANRE's estimate 18 909 036 green certificates will be delivered. Therefore in 2016 there will be a surplus of 6 792 374 green certificates, in addition to the 4 045 324 green certificates existing already.
