New energy efficiency programme launched by the Czech Republic
The Czech government launched a new programme on energy efficiency with a total sum of EUR 105Mio. The programme supports upgrades including small solar systems and is scheduled to last through 2021 with a total budget of about EUR 900 Mio.
At the end of 2014 the country had over 2 GWp of solar parks and ranked sixth in the EU in terms of installed capacity per inhabitant. That high capacity was made possible by a favourable feed-in tariff (FiT) and low administrative barriers in 2009 and 2010. With the reduction of the support the capacity increase slowed down as well.
In the next step the government intends to support the residential solar sector.
