New Renewable Energy Resources Development Proramme for 2016-2020 proposed in Lithuania

Plans to promote the development of wind energy will increase installed generation capacity of wind by 50% to 750 MW.

It is the intention of the government of Lithuania to increase security of supply while keeping electricity tariffs stable for end consumers. In the past wind energy was supported by Feed-in tariffs that were financed through electricity prices using public service obligations.
