Two Energy Infrastructure Projects in Bulgaria receive funding by EU

EU member states approved the proposal of the European Commission to allocate EUR 150 Mio to twenty key trans-European energy infrastructure projects.

There are two Bulgarian projects among the projects selected for receiving financial assistance under the first Connecting Europe Facility Energy 2015 call.

The two projects concern the construction of a new 400 kW overhead transmission line and the expansion of underground gas storage.

The majority of the financing will be assigned to projects in Central Eastern, South Eastern Europe and the Baltic region.

The selected projects are aimed at stabilizing energy security and diminishing the isolation of member states from EU-wide energy networks.

The projects will also help to establish a European energy market and to integrate renewable energy sources into the electricity grid. It is the intention of the projects to improve security of supply and to improve market integration.
