Shut down of coal-fired power plant in Bulgaria

Due to non-compliance with EU environmental standards the power plant located in Bulgaria and operated by the Czech power utility CEZ has to be closed

Czech power utility CEZ is considering shutting down its 1,260 MW coal-fired power plant in Varna (Bulgaria) as of 2015 for environmental reasons. The company stated that current prices for electricity and green house gas emissions would make emvironmental investment plans impossible. An environmental upgrade would be necessaryin order to restart operation of the power plant.
