EBRD grants €35m loan for energy efficiency in Moldova

The EBRD’s Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Financing Facility (MoREEFF) will provide a €35m credit to house owners to finance energy efficiency improvements in their homes in Moldova.

Moldova is more than eight times more energy and carbon intensive than the EU average. In Moldova, the housing sector accounts for over 40% of energy use. The MoREEFF aims to save 55 GWh/year, which is equivalent to the domestic electricity use of a city the size of Balti, Moldova’s second largest.
