Romania is investing in the development of hydropower
The Romanian power sector is characterised by one company per source of production or type of activity. Hidroelectrica is responsible for hydroelectric production and manages an installed capacity of 6,4 GW. Based on the Romania energy report published in July 2013 by enerdata, Hidroelectrica is investing €3,2bn in hydropower capacity, more than €1bn of it in a pumped-storage power plant.
Investment may also be expected in the refurbishment of existing hydropower plants.
