Gazprom sets gas price for Ukraine at US$485/1,000 m3 (+80%)

Considering that the situation with gas payment for natural gas supplied to Ukraine was worsening (debt amount growing to over US$2.2bn), and taking into account that Russia abolished the zero customs duty on gas export for Ukraine, Gazprom has raised gas price for Ukraine to US$485/1,000m3 from 1 April 2014.

This represents an 80% increase on current prices (US$268.5/,1000 m3).  It is the second raise in a week as Gazprom already announced on 1 April 2014 an increase to US$385.5/1,000 m3 (ie + 44%). Ukraine has rejected Russia's decision and threatened legal action.
