Hungary and Slovakia interconnect their gas transmission networks

Hungary and Slovakia have connected their gas networks in Szada (Hungary) to strengthen their supply security. The connection will enable reverse flows, allowing Hungary to import gas from Europe rather than importing gas from Russia.

A new gas pipeline will be laid over 111 km between Vecses (Hungary) and Velke Zlievce (Slovakia); the 5 bcm/year project is expected to be commissioned in 2015.
