Gas exports from Russia to Europe rose by 13% in 2013

According to preliminary estimates from the International Energy Agency, gas flows from Russia to Europe rose by about 13% in 2013, from 148 bcm in 2012 to 179 bcm in 2013.

The share of gas transiting through Ukraine decreased slightly, from 53% in 2012 to 49% in 2013. The share of Russia in European gas supply increased noticeably in 2013, at 61% compared to 52% in 2012, as total imports dipped by about 3%. Imports from North Africa fell by 20% in 2013, while LNG imports collapsed (-28%), unlike imports from Azerbaijan and Iran (+12% in 2013).
