Romania plans decision on renewable feed-in tariffs by March 2014

Romania is reviewing its financial incentive scheme for renewable projects, and has submitted its new mechanism to the European Commission (EC) for approval.

The decision from the EC is expected by March 2014. The feed-in tariff (FiT) might range between €186 and €200/MWh. Power suppliers would decide whether they prefer to opt for the FiT or for the acquisition of energy and green certificates from the market. The issuance of some green certificates has been deferred to 2017, to limit the financial weight of renewable projects.
