Czech utility closes down coal-fired power plant in Bulgaria

Security of supply may be disrupted as a consequence of tensions between EU and Russia

Czech power utility CEZ intends to close down its coal-fired power plant in Varna, Bulgaria, as it did not get exemptions from the European Union environmental rules. CEZ had asked for the permission to contine its operation during the winter in order to stabilize security of supply.
