CEZ delays signing tender contract for Temelin NPP (Czech Rep.)

CEZ will delay by one year the expansion of the Temelin nuclear power project, due to the political crisis in the Czech Republic that started with the collapse of the centre-right government in June 2013.

The future of the €8-10bn project has become a major tension point for the interim administration. Even if a winning offer is selected in 2013, the final contract will not be signed before the autumn of 2014. The two 1,000 MW nuclear reactors are expected to be commissioned in 2025. This delay will enable the new government to define and update the national energy strategy.
