Bulgaria plans 5% cut in electricity tariffs as of August 2013

The State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) of Bulgaria has proposed an average 5% decrease in electricity prices as of 1 August 2013. End user tariffs would be cut by 4.4% for CEZ, by 4.1% for EVN and by 4.5% for Energo-Pro, ...

...  while night time tariffs would be reduced (by 3.5% for Energo-Pro, by more than 6% for CEZ and by nearly 7% for EVN). The final decision is expected by the end of the month.
The Bulgarian government vowed to lower price in late 2012 following mass protests over high electricity bills. Massive demonstrations are still under way over allegations of corruption and are requesting new elections.
