Ukraine announces 12.8 Mt oil discovery in Poltava region

Naftogaz, Ukraine's national oil and gas company, has announced the discovery of oil resources in the Budyshchansky-Chutivsky field in Poltava region.

The company had received a special license for the exploration and pilot commercial development of this field in late 2011. During 2012, Naftogaz carried out a set of geological and geophysical studies, and in the third quarter of 2012 on the tender principles the company started drilling. According to the current estimates, the minimum resources of the oil field make about 12.8 Mt. This would be 1/5 of the total crude oil and NGL proved reserves of Ukraine in 2012.
