Lithuanian gas company spins off transmission activities

Lithuanian gas company Lietuvos Dujos has decided to spin off its gas transmission activities, that will be transferred by 31 July 2013 to a new company, Amber Grid, in order to comply with the European Third Energy Package.

The unbundling of the control activity will be finished on 31 October 2014. Until then, the shareholders of Amber Grid will be the same as those of AB Lietuvos Dujos: E.ON Ruhrgas with 38.9%, Gazprom with 37.06% and the Lithuanian Energy Ministry with 17.7%. A minority buyout offer could be later launched for shares in Amber Grid. Gazprom voted in favour of this unbundling with reserves.
