Poland could add 6 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2025

Poland’s economy could boost by nearly PLN 74 billion (EUR 17.5 billion) by 2025 if it expands its offshore wind energy sector to a capacity of 6 GW, according to a report released by Ernst & Young for the Polish Wind Energy Association (PWEA).

The offshore wind energy could potentially provide 31.8 thousand new jobs from 2012-2025, mostly in the electro-engineering sector and 15 billion in tax revenue.

Licences for Polish offshore wind development have already been awarded, but developers are still considering whether to continue with projects, requiring the introduction of a support framework under a new energy law.
