OMV Petrom starts producing green hydrogen in Romania

OMV Petrom has announced the construction of two green hydrogen production plants with a total capacity of 55 MW at the Petrobrazi refinery.

The financing contracts have been signed with the Romanian Ministry of Energy and amount to a maximum of EUR 50 million, for a total investment of around EUR 140 million. The projects include the construction of two water electrolysis plants with 35 MW and 20 MW. The entire production process will be utilizing renewable energy and the hydrogen produced can be classified as green hydrogen. It is estimated that the total annual amount of green hydrogen will be around 8 kilotons.
