EBRD supports solar plant construction in Bulgaria

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan of up to EUR 25 million for the Tsenovo solar power plant in Bulgaria.

The guarantee is granted as part of the bank's risk-sharing programme. The construction and operation of the large solar power plant in north-east Bulgaria will provide 112.5 MW of new solar power generation capacity to the national grid. The Tsenovo solar power plant is financed by Enery Development, a renewable energy infrastructure company with 273 MW of renewable energy assets in Central and Eastern Europe. The project will contribute to Bulgaria's renewable energy targets, including phasing out coal-fired power generation by 2038.
