The European Investment Bank (EIB) provides a loan for the expansion of the Polish distribution network

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a EUR 462m loan to Poland's Enea for the modernization of the distribution network.

The EIB loan to Enea should foster the increase of renewable energy sources in the north-west of Poland and thus improve the security and reliability of electricity supply in the region. It aims to transform the Polish electricity sector, reach zero-emission goals, expand the distribution infrastructure, and support the decentralized energy industry. The loan agreement was signed in 2023 with a first loan tranche of PLN 1bn (EUR 231m; USD 249m). The EIB's financial support for the development of the distribution network extends over the period 2023-2025.
