Serbia receives $2.2 billion investment from China for renewable energy installations

China will invest 2 billion euros (2.18 billion dollars) in the development of wind and solar power plants as well as a hydrogen production plant in Serbia.

This represents the largest investment in renewable energy in the Balkan region.  A declaration of intent was signed between the ministry and the Chinese companies Shanghai Fengling Renewable Co Ltd and Serbia Zijin Copper. They plan to build a wind farm with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts (MW), a solar power plant with a capacity of 500 MW and a hydrogen plant with an annual capacity of around 30,000 tons by 2028.
