Bulgaria and Romania join the group of GW markets

Bulgaria has installed a total PV capacity of almost 3 GW by the end of 2023, meaning that its 3.2 GW target for 2030 could be reached seven years earlier than planned.

From around 1 GW in 2020, Bulgaria has almost tripled its installed solar capacity in three years.

In Romania, the newly installed solar capacity of 1 GW this year represents an increase of 308 % compared to 2022. In 2023, the country's photovoltaic capacity will reach 2.85 GW and generate more than 2.5 TWh, i.e. around 5% of total electricity production.
