EU approved 333 million euros for renewable energy projects in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania

Two wind farm projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a solar power plant in Albania will receive 75.4 million euros in grants from the European Union for investments totaling 333 million euros.

They were approved as part of the sixth package of the economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans.The Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans (EIP) aims to promote long-term economic recovery of the Balkan area as well as it´s regional economic integration. It establishes 10 key investments to support the green and digital transitions in the Western Balkans and bring the region closer to the EU market. From 2020, up to EUR 9 billion in EU funding will be available to boost sustainable transport, clean energy, environment and climate, the digital future, human capital and the private sector. These investments will accelerate the accelerate the decarbonization of the Western Balkans and improve energy security in the region.
