30 mln euro grant for geothermal energy research in Croatia

In Croatia, 30 million euros will be invested in research on feasibility of geothermal energy for heating purposes in six cities in the north of the country.

The project is financed by the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The project will be implemented in Zapresic, Sisak, Velika Gorica, Osijek, Vinkovci and Vukovar, where public heating systems are already in place.The project is an important initiative to use renewable energy sources, enhance domestic energy production and reduce dependence on external energy supply. It also offers opportunities for agricultural sector in Croatia. The RRF is an essential part of the NextGenerationEU recovery plan, which aims to support EU member states in their economic revival from the coronavirus pandemic and help them invest in green energy and digitalization.
