Chinese company plans to invest in hybrid wind and solar project for H2 production

Chinese company Shanghai Fengling Renewables plans to invest in a 1,500 MW hybrid wind and solar project to produce green hydrogen in Serbia.

The investment for the construction of the power plants and hydrogen production facilities is expected to be around 2 billion euros. The green energy complex will be located near the town of Bor, where Zijin has also set up a copper-gold mining project.  The Chinese mining company would be responsible for electricity generation and the current mining energy demand will be covered by the renewable energy project. The surplus not consumed by the mining company will be converted into hydrogen. The complex provides hydrogen production capacity of 30,000 tons per year. The project could enable Serbia to become a major producer and exporter of hydrogen in Europe.
