The oil refinery in Balsh, Albania, will be converted into a solar power plant

The abandoned oil refinery in Balsh, southern Albania, on the site of which a bitumen production plant operated, will be converted into a solar power plant. The company Greennat Solar Park Ballsh has won the right to install a 100 MW photovoltaic plant or sell the project.

Currently, the current owner of the bitumen plant, the Shijaku company, is dismantling the facility for scrap metal. Its subsidiary Greennat Solar Park Ballsh will build a solar power plant. Albania's government said it expects the facility to be built within 60 months, and its operational life will be 49 years. The site contractor will have to inform the line ministry and the National Agency for Natural Resources (NARA) every three months about the progress of the project.
