Moldova: gas supply under threat

Despite fulfilling its payment obligations, Moldova is at risk of being cut off from Russian gas supplies. The Secretariat of the Energy Community will support Moldova in diversifying its gas and electricity supplies with a Energy Rescue Scheme that is ready to provide financial assistance to Moldova to face the harsh winter ahead.

Despite fulfilling its payment obligations, Moldova is at risk of being cut off from Russian gas supplies, due to unsubstantiated claims by Gazprom that a third party - Ukraine - is decreasing the actual quantities needed for Moldova. These claims are false, as Ukraine's gas transmission system operator has been fulfilling its transit obligations even in the face of war conditions. It is yet another example of the unreliable nature of the Russian supplier and the use of gas supplies as leverage. The Secretariat of the Energy Community refutes these false claims and will continue to support Moldova in diversifying its gas and electricity supplies. Its Energy Rescue Scheme is ready to provide financial assistance to Moldova to face the harsh winter ahead.
