Poland: Oil giant PKN Orlen plans to invest in renewables

Poland’s largest oil refiner PKN Orlen planns to invest in onshore and offshore wind, green hydrogen and the small modular reactors and plans to take part in Lithuania’s upcoming auction for 700 MW in the country’s part of the Baltic Sea.

Poland’s largest oil refiner PKN Orlen plans to expand to renewables in Lithuania’s energy sector, including investment in onshore and offshore wind, green hydrogen and small modular reactors.

The company also plans to take part in Lithuania’s upcoming auction for 700 MW in the country’s part of the Baltic Sea. Lithuanian authorities will announce licence auctions in 2024 and in 2025. Poland’s Orlen alongside its Lithuanian division will apply to get the permits.

CEO Daniel Obajtek discussed the company's projects for Lithuania at a meeting with its Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
