Starting 2022 with important amendments to electricity market rules

Moldova starts 2022 with a 3 month testing phase of amendments to electricity market rules. They contain improved procedures the procedure for the procurement of electricity.

Moldova begins its new year with a three-month testing phase of all market participants' wholesale electricity trading rules.

The regulator ANRE adopted the market rules in August 2020. They contain procedures for the procurement of electricity on the forward, day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets, as well as regulations for the procurement of ancillary services and the balancing of imbalances.

To ensure complete and proper implementation of the market rules on 1 April 2022, all market participants must apply the imbalance settlement rules from 1 January 2022, but without any commercial impact in the first three months. The TSO will compile the test phase results and submit to ANRE monthly.

The updated market rules include an improved procedure for electricity procurement and rules for balancing between market participants on the left bank of the Dniester.
