870 MW Solar & 460 MW Wind Capacity Awarded in Polish Auction

The Energy Regulatory Authority (URE) of Poland has selected 870 MW Solar & 460 MW Wind power capacity in 3 renewable energy auctions held in December 2021

The Polish Energy Regulator (URE) has held three auctions out of 5 scheduled for December 2021 and awarded 1.33 GW of solar and wind energy capacity in 2 auctions.  870 MW were attributed to Solar and 460 MW to Wind power capacity.

The administration had set a target of contracting 18.5 TWh of electricity for PLN 8.6 billion through these auctions, but the auctions ended with just under 14 TWh contracted for a budget of PLN 3.2 billion.

Recently, the European Commission extended the life of Poland's existing €9.4 billion aid scheme from the current deadline of 31 December 2021 to 2027 to further expand renewable energy generation via competitive auctions (see Poland's RE aid scheme extended).
