Overcoming boarders: planning a 155MW Hydropower plant together

State-owned power utilities are close to starting the construction of a hydropower plant on the territory of Montenegro with a planned capacity is 155 MW.

The project was first planned in 1972 and restarted two and a half years ago: The state-owned power companies Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) will jointly build the Komarnica hydropower plant.

The hydropower plant is to be built on the territory of Montenegro; the planned capacity is 155 MW, the investment is estimated at 265 million euros. According to Grčić, 51% of the investment will be financed by EPCG and 49% by EPS.

EPCG and EPS will strengthen their cooperation, which is extremely important for the energy security of Montenegro and Serbia and the entire region. The investment in the Komarnica hydropower plant is 51 per cent financed by EPCG, while EPS will contribute the rest.
