Growing interest in PV in the Czech Republic
Several utility-scale solar projects are being developed in the Czech Republic, with investors hoping to receive subsidies from a recently introduced rebate program that covers up to 50% of costs. Securing a PPA for power sales can be more difficult, however, as current market conditions do not offer many opportunities for long-term deals.
Czech utility CEZ Group recently commissioned a 3 MW ground-mounted solar plant in Bechyně in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
"CEZ Group is currently planning solar plants with thousands of megawatts in industrial areas or on reclamation sites to replace coal-fired power plants," according to a statement from the utility.
