Goldwind has signed turbine purchase agreements (TPAs) for two wind farms in Ukraine totaling 625.5 MW, strengthening its presence in the country.

The 337.5 MW Zophia I & II

 and the 288MW Ochakov

Wind power projects are both located in southern Ukraine.

The order includes 75 GW 155-4.5 MW for Zophia and 60 GW 155-4.8 MW for Ochakov. Goldwind will also maintain turbines at Zophia for 25 years for Emergy's Zophia and turbines at Ochakov for two years. It did not disclose the owner of the Ochakov project.

The wind turbines meet local grid connection requirements and guarantee "maximum return on investment for customers," Goldwind said.

The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2022. Once operational, they will produce an estimated 2.2 TWh/year, enough to power more than 1.1 million Ukrainian households.

In addition to improving local power supply and reducing CO2 emissions, the projects are expected to boost employment, increase tax revenues and spur economic development in the region.

Goldwind said the deals will increase the company's market share in Ukraine to more than 20%.
