Latvia third power transmission network interconnection ready

The project involved the construction of a 176-kilometer 330-kV high-voltage power transmission line in Latvia from Riga CHP-2 to the Estonian border.

On the 25th of August the 330 kV power line "Estonia-Latvia 3 interconnection" was officially inaugurated. The project involved the construction of a 176-kilometer 330-kV high-voltage power transmission line in Latvia from Riga CHP-2 to the Estonian border. The new line will increase the total transmission capacity of the Estonia - Latvia interconnection by at least 600 MW. Previously, the transmission capacity of the cross-border interconnector was not sufficient to allow the required electricity trading volume between Latvia and Estonia, which led to congestion and electricity price differences at certain times of the day.
